Fraxel® NYC

Conveniently located to serve New York City, Tribeca, and The Upper East Side

Collagen is found in the dermis (the deeper layer of the skin) and provides the foundation needed to keep skin firm, plump and supple. As we age, our body’s natural collagen production begins to decline, as early as in our late 20’s. This natural loss of firmness and elasticity, combined with pollution, stress, sun exposure and other toxins, eventually leads to the appearance of wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin.

Fraxel® treatment sets the gold standard for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation. This treatment not only reverses the signs of aging, but also creates and maintains collagen production while your skin cells are still functioning optimally. As a result, skin tone, skin texture, acne and surgical scars, and actinic keratosis concerns are addressed.

FAQ

What is Fraxel?

Fraxel laser treatment is a non-invasive procedure that targets aging and sun-damaged skin with thousands of microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin and push out the old, sun damaged skin cells (the tiny pixels). This process stimulates the body’s natural healing process to encourage collagen growth. And since the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes rapid healing for faster results.

Is Fraxel safe?

Fraxel treatment has received FDA clearance for treating: wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, neck and décolletage, hands, arms and stomach; acne scars; surgical scars; age spots/sunspots (pigmented lesions); bumpy texture on the body (Actinic Keratosis); and skin resurfacing.

What are the benefits of Fraxel laser treatment?

  • Smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin
  • Improved tone and texture
  • Reduction of unwanted brown spots
  • Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improved appearance of acne scars and surgical scars on the face and body

What’s involved in a Fraxel laser procedure?

Before the treatment, your provider will thoroughly cleanse your skin and then apply a topical anesthetic ointment to the treatment area. After the anesthetic sets in for 45-60 minutes, the Fraxel procedure itself only takes 20-25 minutes for a full face.

Is the Fraxel procedure painful?

The topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure and cold air is used on the treatment area during the procedure to minimize discomfort. After the treatment, most patients report a feeling similar to having too much sun. It usually disappears after 1 to 3 hours.

When will I see Fraxel laser results?

After Fraxel treatment, results are immediate and progressive, with optimal improvement usually visible in 2 to 3 months. Immediately following your first treatment and initial healing, your skin will feel softer and tone will start to become even. Results continue to occur for three to six months as the deeper layers of skin rebuild.

Fraxel results depend on how well you protect your skin from the sun and your genetic aging process. During your complimentary Fraxel consultation, your provider will talk to you about what specific results you can expect.

How many Fraxel treatments will I need?

4 treatments, 4 weeks apart is ideal for optimal results. Scars may require up to 6 treatments depending on the severity of the scar. Each treatment is considered part of a whole program which will yield results for many years and continue to look good with annual maintenance treatments.

How long is Fraxel laser downtime?

Fraxel laser recovery is typically a week and has minimal side effects. You can go back to normal activities including work (and with make-up!) within 1-3 days. During the first two days, you can expect redness, throbbing, and swelling (like a sunburn). Cool compresses are recommended after the treatment to keep the skin as cool as possible. Avoid hot showers, hot saunas, and extreme exercising for up to 72 hours, or until skin is back to baseline.

Between days 3-5, your skin will start to feel grainy to the touch as the damaged cells push their way up to the skin’s surface. Do not shave or exfoliate the skin to allow the dead cells to naturally slough off. Diligent application of moisturizer and physical sunscreen is a must. A “bronzed” look to the skin is also common, which will fade within 1-2 weeks.

What is required for post Fraxel skin care?

Because your skin is healing, you’ll want to protect it during this process. We encourage clients to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after the last treatment.

Can you combine Fraxel with other treatments?

Yes. Clients often benefit from combining Fraxel with other anti-aging treatments. During your complimentary consultation, the appropriate treatment plan to achieve your desired results will be discussed with you.

Who is the ideal candidate for Fraxel?

Fraxel laser treatment is effective for most people who want to diminish the appearance of crow’s feet, brow lines and age spots; erase the effects of acne; improve the appearance of sun damaged skin; and treat actinic keratosis.

How much does Fraxel laser cost?

Fraxel cost is dependent on the area being treated. The cost can range from $325 for treating a scar and up to $1,500 for the full face. For a Fraxel service quotation, we recommend scheduling a complimentary skin consultation to discuss the areas of concerns and financing plans.
