FAQ

What is IPL Face Treatment?

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light, also referred to as a photo facial. This laser safely targets and diminishes unwanted red and brown spots on the skin that makes the skin uneven and splotchy, causing us to look much older than we need to.

What is Microneedling?

Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, micro-needling is a non-laser device that uses a sterile cartridge containing 0.5–2.0mm depth needles. The needles are used to cause micro-controlled injuries to the epidermal layer of the skin in order to promote collagen production. While the micro-channels are open, stem cells or Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) are topically applied and pushed into the skin to provide added healing and rejuvenating benefits. Skin tightens; wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, and hyperpigmentation significantly diminish; pores become finer; and the overall health and circulation of the skin is improved.

How Many Dual Radiance Treatments Are Needed for Optimal Results?

Three to four treatments spaced three to four weeks apart are recommended. The amount of treatments depends on the severity of the area targeted. It’s best to book a complimentary consultation with one of our expert providers to discuss a treatment plan. As we treat comprehensively, it’s important to also address the proper homecare regiment for preventative and corrective measures that will complement the program.

What Happens During the Dual Radiance Procedure?

After the skin is cleansed and numbed with a topical anesthetic, IPL Face Treatment is performed first. A light layer of cool gel is applied on the area of concern to allow the handheld device to be passed across the skin’s surface delivering pulses of broad-spectrum light to the deep layers of the skin. Pigment cells in your skin absorb light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat will immediately draw any dark spots to the top layer of the skin. Your eyes are protected during this treatment from the pulses of lights.

A micro needling device is then passed back and forth over the treated areas to push in the stem cell solution that will promote healing amongst other rejuvenating benefits. Some pinpoint bleeding may occur depending on the severity of the area being treated.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

Depending on which part of your face or body is being treated and how large the area is, the treatment can take up to one hour and 15 minutes.

What is the Dual Radiance Pre and Post-Treatment Care?

This is a non-invasive treatment with very minimal downtime and is well-tolerated. You may experience slight redness and swelling immediately after the treatment, but skin is back to normal or mildly pink within a few hours. The IPL Face Treatment portion of this treatment will immediately darken any brown spots which will fade or flake off within a week leaving behind smooth, even-toned skin.

We recommend avoiding picking at or scrubbing off the dark spots. Keep the treated areas well protected from sun exposure, wear sunscreen and reapply diligently.

In between treatments, avoid self-tanner and retinol/Retin-A one week prior to treatment.

Who is the Ideal Candidate for an IPL Face Treatment with Microneedling?

An ideal candidate is someone who’s not actinically bronzed and has light to medium skin tone, is concerned with dull, blotchy skin and has textural issues such as fine lines and acne scars.

What are the Side Effects of Dual Radiance?

The combination of both the IPL Face Treatment and micro needling is considered safe and effective. Some clients can experience swelling, discomfort at the treatment site, redness, bruising and tightness, however, these side effects typically dissipate quickly, within a few days to a week. While more uncommon, pinpoint bleeding can occur after a deeper treatment.
